From a Nikon perspective you'd get a year warranty in this box from the date it was sold. If you register a Nikon within 30 day's of purchase you get another year on top. Basically somethings not right if the 9 month old D700 doesn't have another 15 month's warranty left on it imo, you don't spend £1700 on a camera and not bother to qualify it for a two year warranty.
